a welcoming touch

Summertime is a bit of a revolving door at our place. With late night BBQs and long days on the lake, it’s not unusual for us to entertain guests a few weekends each month. Not everyone expects to stay the night and sometimes little luxuries forget to  be packed in overnight bags so I’ve begun putting together small welcome packs.

Little items like extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shampoo and soap go a long way when you’re out of town – plus adds a little B&B flair to our home.

A welcome note and some weekend essentials.

When hosting my sister-in-law’s baby shower, I had her stay at place while we set up at her home. (Nothing is more stressful than taking care of your newborn while a gaggle of women run around your house cooking and setting up decorations).

I put out some delicious smelling candles, loose leaf tea and a manicure kit to keep her entertained and relaxed in preparation for the party.

In the event that our guests are early risers I like to set out the coffee essentials (not everyone is comfortable rooting through kitchen cupboards for a caffeine fix). This way they can enjoy a freshly brewed cup on the deck… while we embrace a late start!

Do you have any go-to moves for when you entertain overnight guests?
